Bonded Nylon 6.6 Sewing Thread - Thread Types
Release time:2025-03-09 Click:620Bonded nylon 6.6 is also called polyamide 6.6, PA6,6 or nylon 66, is a strong sewing thread for leather goods.
Bonded nylon 6.6 thread refers to a non-filament-separating sewing thread. Simply put, if twisting a conventional sewing thread clockwise by hand causes the strands to separate, it is a regular soft sewing thread; if the strands remain intact after twisting, it is bonded nylon 6.6 thread. In other words, bonded nylon 66 is a type of sewing thread whose strands are permanently fused together to prevent separation.

Types of Bonded Nylon 6.6 Thread
1. By Material
- Nylon 6.6 Bonded Thread: Produced by twisting continuous filament of high tenacity nylon 66 into a multi-strand sewing thread, which is then fused together using the bonding process.
- Nylon 6 Bonded Thread: Similar type as bonded nylon 6.6, but twist by another fiber of nylon 6 in continuous filament high tenacity. Bonded nylon 6 has a lower cost.
- There is another type of bonded thread, Polyester Bonded Thread: Manufactured similarly to nylon bonded thread, but using continuous polyester filament twisted into a multi-strand thread before bonding.
2. By Production Process
Externally Bonded Nylon 6.6 Thread: Produced by passing conventional multi-strand thread through a heated adhesive bath via bonding machinery. The adhesive coats and fuses the strands externally.
Internally Bonded Nylon 6.6 Thread: Created by incorporating a low-melting-point thermoplastic fiber into the core during the twisting process. Heat treatment melts the thermoplastic fiber, bonding the sewing thread strands internally.
